Hmm, appropriate date for my inaugural blog post wouldn't you say?
I woke early, for me, this morning. I'm a night person by nature and have only been able to return to that type of schedule since January 1 when I was retired by force. The durable medical equipment company I work for shut down the local call center where I worked for 5 1/2 years.
I had set the DVR to record the inauguration, but couldn't fall back to sleep so I watched it live until the former president took off in the helicopter. When the newscasters started their sniping, I changed the channel and watched my DVRd reruns of the original MacGyver series. So much more pleasant.
Don't get me wrong, the new series is okay and I watch it, but Lucas Till is definitely NOT Richard Dean Anderson. I first noticed Richard Dean Anderson on the one season of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. So when the original MacGyver launched I was front row and center.
I do understand the producers and CBS needed to revamp things to attract a modern following, but a female Thornton who is NOT Mac's best friend? No wonder she has been written off for the time being at least. I really like the Wilt Bozer character. Justin Hires plays the role with a nice sense of humor. The humor is a throwback to the original series. Also, I'm so happy they kept the MacGyverisms. Without them...suffice it to say the show would have bit the dust after the first episode. I had to watch for at least three episodes before I became comfortable with the differences. The show is much more of an ensemble cast now.
